PAUL KEIM DESIGN is a small firm – from answering your questions and working with the contractors to answering the phone, there is one person to deal with – me.

My portfolio of the last 10 years is largely custom homes.  While I have a personal style, with references to historic styles such as craftsman, cottage, timber frame and mission styles, my approach is very personalized. I design from the furniture up and the site down, integrating tiny details and large concepts, working with clients to create a home that lives graciously, compliments the site, suits their budget and realizes their stylistic dreams. I strive for a floor plan that suits a client’s way of living, an exterior in harmony with the site, a human scale to the building itself and a sense of completeness and sense of place to the entire project.

My services are a complete design package. From getting to know my clients and their relationship with their living space to site design, building design, interior design and landscaping I am involved in every step from conception to move in. My approach is extremely hands-on.  For example –  I custom design entry doors, work extensively with the cabinet makers on the layout appearance and functionality of the cabinets , hand selecting appropriate colours of travertine and laying out the tile pattern of a walk in shower, providing full sized templates of the timber frame details or searching for just the right stone for a hearth. As a past client said, I “live” my projects.

While I am not a contractor I am directly involved during construction of my projects. Over the years I have developed a trusted team of general contractors, landscape designers, masons, cabinet makers, tile setters, timber framers, granite and soapstone specialists, lighting specialists, painters, structural engineers and biologists.
